Huis Clos Rouge comes from the Grès de Montpellier, from vines of about 40 years. Each plot is vinified on its own, fermented without added sulphur and given a long maceration, and the wine then ages twelve months in 500-litre barrels. The estate describes an ink-dark wine with plum, black fruit, pepper, eucalyptus and tobacco, and a velvety mouth. It is made for long ageing: decant it if you drink it young, and serve it with meat in sauce, grilled meat or game.
